FIRST RESPONDER UNIT
The first responder unit is a 1991 Ford Type III Ambulance with a 7.3 liter diesel engine.  The Humeston First Responders are very active in the emergency medical care of our community and that is just what we do - we are the first in the line of emergency medical care.  When someone needs emergency medical care to the extent that they need an ambulance the First Responders are dispactched by the Wayne County Sheriff's Office to assist the patient until the ambulance arrives. The ABC's (airway, breathing and circulation) and C-spine (cervical spine) immobilization are the primary concerns.  These are the first areas to assess and treat to prevent further death or disability.  Once the ABC's and C-spine are secured we give basic care until the ambulance arrives.  Upon arrival of the ambulance, a report is given to the crew and patient care is turned over to them.
If you live in the Humeston area and are interested in joining the Humeston First Responders please send the webmasters an email or contact one of the responders.  We are always looking for individuals who want to join our group and help the community.
