| This article reflects my views on pop singers like Brittany Spears and Christina Aguilara. If you are VERY into pop music and/or pop singers like Christina and Brittany, then don't bother reading this. Go back to the home page and read about fish : ) - unless you don't like fish- LOL! I do not feel these people should die; I don't even use the word hate. People have a right to listen to the music they want to listen to. I'm friends with some people who like pop music, and I don't hold that against them. If you do not agree with my view, don't get mad, it's only an opinion... There are several reasons why these pop stars should not be revered, admired, or looked up to in any way, shape or form. The worst of these pop stars are the girls. They give women a bad name, and take women's lib back 10+ years. It is not their talent they use to get ahead, it's their bodies. Why else would Brittany Spears do a strip show in front of a million people, unless she's just an extreme exhibitionist by nature. On an Mtv special a while back with Christina, the subject of Eminem's song "Kim" came up. Christina said that you should never let your man diss you like that. Well, who needs a man to diss you when your trashy outfits do it already. They should have enough self respect for themselves and their bodies to not have to constantly show it off. What kind of a message is it sending to young girls when you see a half-naked girl with breast implants and caked on makeup being revered by all these people? For people who agree with Christina and Brittany, they attribute this view to jealously. I have to say for me personally, if I had the choice of looking like myself or like Brittany or Christina I would choose me. Pro-pop people might also say things like "if you had their body, you would do the same thing". There are lots of people out there who are just as beautiful as these pop stars, yet they don't dress like a slut. They also have enough self-respect not to sell their bodies (which is basically what Brittany and Christina do). If anyone says that Brittany and Christina don't dress like sluts, then they obviosly haven't seen some of their outfits. The other problem pop singers have is a lack of originality. None of them write their own music or even play an instrument. Plus, with the wave of computer-generated music, they don't even need to be good singers. They even have the same videos with the same dances, gestures, and expressions. They express no creativty what so ever, and music is supposed to be creative in and of itself. The last thing I will discuss it the hypocrisy of it all. Brittany says it's bad to drink, yet she drinks. Christina says not to let your man diss you, yet she disses herself. Brittany tries to act like a nieve, girl-next-door but her videos, outfits, and dances are anything but nieve. They proclaim "girl power", yet they use their bodies instead of their brains. Why don't more people see through this facade? Maybe it's because people don't want to... it's a lot easier to go with the mainstream view than to take a stand against it... but that's just my opinion ; ) |
