DOC was one of the first Joes and is the first medic on the team.Unlike LIFELINE,DOC is not a pacifist and will fight alongside his buddies in battle. He is also an occasional inventor and has created many devices to help his fellow Joes.
During the battle over the MASS DEVICE, DOC worked with DUKE to try to get the latter's memory back after he had recieved amnesia while trying to escape from Cobra Headquarters. He finally succeeded by placing DUKE in a sensory deprevation tank.
During the battle over the WEATHER DOMINATOR, DOC invented energy mirrors that were able to reflect the DOMINATOR'S power. The mirrors power wave ripped the DOMINATOR into three pieces that scattered across the globe. Unfortunately, this caused freak weather to occur worldwide.
DOC was part of a team that was to protect an anti-terroism conference. When ZARTAN planted a bomb, DOC helped look for it. He later went to check on the captive ZARTAN but was knocked out allowing the Cobra spy to escape.
DOC helped create a water for the ex-Cobra Eel turned mermaid Mara. Unfortunately, he could not cure her. When SHIPWRECK was trapped in Springfield, a clone of DOC pretended to be the real DOC now retired and acting as SHIPWRECK'S family doctor. The clone was destroyed along with the others during SHIPWRECK'S escape.
DOC helped LIFELINE discover Cobra plot to steal DNA and use it to clone a genetic super-soldier. What they failed to guess was that Cobra was trying to create a new leader using DNA from history's greatest military minds.
DOC treated DUKE after the latter was nearly killed fighting SERPENTOR. DUKE went into a coma but DOC was able to revive him just as the Joes won their battle against the forces of COBRA-LA.
(Note: DOC is mentioned as being a pacifist in his biocard in the toy and in the G.I. JOE: ORDER OF BATTLE mini-series. DOC is killed in issue 109 of the comics by a shot to the face made by a sadistic Cobra named Saw-Viper.)
