1ST APPEARANCE: G.I.JOE: REVENGE OF COBRA
The DREADNOKS are a group of bikers who serve ZARTAN, and since he's employed by Cobra, they serve them too. The group was originally composed of three people, BUZZER, RIPPER, and TORCH. Their first mission working for Cobra was to free COBRA COMMANDER from imprisonment. They captured COLONEL SHARP, which allowed ZARTAN to impersonate him. They then used their weapons to break into the prison thus making an escape route for ZARTAN, BARONESS , and COBRA COMMANDER. Finally they successfully eluded pursuit by several Joes led by GUNG-HO.
While Joe and Cobra battled over the missing pieces of the WEATHER DOMINATOR, ZARTAN and the DREADNOKS tried all they could to get the most out of the conflict. They even stole the Laser Core from its resting place at the ROOF OF THE WORLD, during a Joe/Cobra battle. When Cobra chased them down to an amusement park in Louisanna, the DREANOKS helped ZARTAN with the parks defenses. After the battle turned against them, the DREADNOKS fled into the swamp. ZARTAN meanwhile, was captured by DESTRO.
The DREADNOKS helped their boss take control of the Delta, the Joe satellite. They helped turn the Joes aboard into slaves. Later, when TOMAX & XAMOT took over Cobra, the DREADNOKS took copntrol away from ZARTAN. However, the Joes regained control of Delta, and ZARTAN fled in an escape pod, leaving the DREADNOKS to flee in a garbage shuttle.
The DREADNOKS continued to work for ZARTAN. They helped infiltrate a Hollywood studio to steal back an experimental Cobra jet. During the mission, TORCH was captured by police. COVER-GIRL studied his face so she could pull off a fake torture session designed to get Cobra to return a captured SHIPWRECK. The DREADNOKS caused the accident that transported several Joes to a paralel world where Cobra won. In this alternate universe, the DREADNOKS had become policemen.
When DR MINDBENDER was gathering DNA to create SERPENTOR, he requested ZARTAN'S help. For this mission he recruited two new DREADNOKS, MONKEYWRENCH, who likes explosives, and THRASHER, who drives a customized vehicle called the Thunder Machine. They were also joined by ZARTAN'S brother and sister, ZARANA and ZANDAR. Among the duties the newly enlarged group performed were battling Joes at Montezuma's grave and helping to catch SERGEANT SLAUGHTER after he escaped.
The DREADNOKS were asked to steal the MCGUFFAN DEVICE, but at the time they were engaged in a physicak debate over whichbis better, candy mint or breath mint. Thye later posed as photographers in a scheme to kidnap fashion models. When they grew tired of ZARANA'S orders, they turned the hyuponotic camera they were using on her. Several DREADNOKS manned phones and served as security during the first annual Cobrathon.
During Cobra's allegiance with COBRA-LA, the DREADNOKS helped attack the Joe mission in the Himilayas. They later helped free SERPENTOR from Joe captivity. They also tried to break open the safe where the BET was held. Their weapons did'nt work so NEMESIS ENFORCER had to pry it open.
Later, the DREADNOKS had to blow up the water entrance to COBRA-LA so those within would not get infected by spores. MONKEYWRENCH spotted TUNNEL RAT trying to sneek in but before he could shoot him, LAW punched him out. The other were simlarly knocked out.
The present whereabouts of the DREADNOKS are unknown.
(Note: In the D I C episodes of G.I.JOE, the only DREADNOKS we see are called GNAWGAHYDE and ROAD PIG. Neither of them appeared in the earlier Sunbow episodes. ROAD PIG does appear in the G.I.JOE comic.)
