Taleen Virginia Conklin, 17, passed away as a result of a car accident in Kelseyville on Thursday July 17, 2003. Taleen was born on May 12, 1986 in Napa and was the daughter of David Conklin and mother (now) Khris Bowman. Taleen grew up in Napa and attended Napa High School where she would have been a senior this year. Like most teenage girls, she loved school, friends, family, frogs and clothes. Although she worked two jobs to afford a new car, she made time for a "demanding" social life as most teenagers do. From the time she was a child, most would describe Taleen as joyous. As a toddler, she always awoke with a heart melting grin and a contagious snicker the moment her eyes opened, which of course, changed once she became a teenager. Taleen had an active family life growing up, always a camping trip, a weekend at the lake, and activities that included cheerleading, track, and of course the "demanding" social life. Family was very important to Taleen and she spent so much of her time with grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins, who were all fortunate enough to be considered additional moms, mads and siblings. Taleen planned to finish high school, then attend college. Taleen had the foresight to request that she be an organ donor in the event of her death. Her wishes (and those of the recipients) have been fulfilled. Taleen is survived by many friends; mother and stepfather Khris and Craig Bowman; father and stepmother David Conklin and Marjorie Michael; brother Daniel Conklin; step-sister Amanda Michael; stepbrother Eric Bowman and his wife Lisa; grandparents Virginia "Ginny" and Spencer Krenke, Marge Erickson, and Connie and Jim Sampson; aunts Kerri Sweet, Denise St.Clair Estrada, Cindy Dodero, Susan Conklin, Diane Rasmussen; uncles Dan Conklin, Steve Conklin, Mike Dodero, Spencer Krenke Jr. "Skip," Robbie Schwai, Rick Estrada and Alex Sweet; nephew Jordan (JO JO) and cousins Casey and Crystal Conklin, Mikey, David and Cayton Dodero, Nichole and Troy Rasmussen, Spencer Estrada, and Christopher and Anthony Sweet (whom, she often considered brothers), and of course 1,000 stuffed frogs, her beloved dogs Barry, Tank, and Face. Friends and family are invited to visitation from 4-8 p.m., Friday and the memorial service at 11 a.m., Saturday, July 26 at Treadway and Wigger Funeral Chapel, 623 Coombs St., Napa followed by a private burial at Tulocay Cemetery. A reception for family and friends will be held at the Silverado Country Club afterwards. The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Taleen Virginia Conklin Memorial Scholarship Fund (for Napa High School) at Vintage Bank , acct. no. 10109374. Taleen, You are our sunshine forever! |
