The Hurley 700 is a class known to Just about everyone who sails, and, having
recently named the 1000th, I was presented with an ideal opportunity to make a
thorough onboard inspection.

There is a saying "If it looks right - it is right" and nothing could sum up this
yacht more accurately. It has classical good looks that are at the same time both
practical and pretty, and whilst it is very well planned on deck and in the cockpit
- particularly with the engine lost to view in the separate enclosed engine-well -
the interior is astonishing.

There is a surprising feeling of space and the whole interior is beautifully finished
in leak with soft side and headlinings throughout, there is a galley and marine
toilet and plenty of locker space. The standard of finish is very high, far better
than anything I expected to find in a 7 metre yacht.
Standards have not been sacrificed in order to remain competitively priced.

The performance and safety of the yacht speak for themselves; there are now over
one thousand built in this design - some have made single-handed Atlantic
crossings, others have "to and fro'd" across the Bay of Biscay, many are used by
the Royal Navy for training purposes and many are raced with local clubs - but
the vast majority are used to fulfill the most popular and important requirement,
that of the family cruiser, where it succeeds eminently.

The Hurley 700 is a splendid all-round yacht and one that I am delighted to
recommend.
