Marriage Prospects:
Kitana
It is not at all uncommon to hear a good number of Jin fans passing degrading remarks about Hwoarang being a wuss, or about Hwoarang fans commenting about Jin's style being laughable.
Seriously, as I have said many times before, it is all a matter of opinion, and that the battle depends more on the player itself than on the character. In a couple of arcades,
Jin is ranked one tier above Hwoarang, but my arcade is one of those that beg to differ, having Hwoarang a tier above Jin.
Not that it matters, just so you know. At the end of the day, your thoughts on both will still be the result, and not mine, so Marriage Prospects serves as a kind of 'Comparison List', on which I am trying to remain as unprejudiced as I can.
It is based on material by
TeKkeN DiVa and TifaFFSvn.
...And now, on to the list!
Attraction Factor:
As this is a Comparison List and not just another web fragment to induce drooling, I will not merely state the points on a number line of 1-10, but rather elaborate further...

For Jin, I would award him a 9.5 because very basically, he is pretty much perfect physically, with exception of his spiked-up hair: the only turn-off so far that I know of.
In
Hwoarang's case, I would give a 8.5 instead, as he has three faults (I think). One would be his hawk-like nose (typical of a staunch Korean fighter) and his body, which is a little too lean for a man, don't you think? Lastly, would be his skin color... No healthy man would ever have skin quite so pale!
Facial Features:
Do I
have to describe this?
For Jin, just look at the picture on the right. It will solve all my problems.
For Hwoarang, look on the left. And notice his copper-hued hair? For your information, it is dyed, because no certified Asian has natural red hair.
Body:
Jin has a muscular frame with no visible ounce of fat...
Hwoarang
is pretty muscular too, but his build is leaner than Jin (he's seven whole kilos lighter!) and he's a centimeter taller.
Personality:
Jin is a more... subdued person. He is, from what I deem, an innocent youth to the extent of naivete (he actually CANNOT see that his grandfather, who had murdered his father plans to eliminate him as well). But he is of good character, with a kind heart and a gentle demeanor.
Hwoarang
is definitely the wilder of the two, with a darker personality as well. He tends to be more sullen, and very defiant, and while Jin is gentle and quiet, he has a rather violent streak, though he is not one bit naive like the former. Look at it this way: if Jin is the perfect boy to bring home to your mother (which he is), Hwoarang will only succeed in driving them crazy. Yeah well.
Sportsmanship:
In Jin's case, I think he would be a good sportsman. He did, after all, agree to fight Hwoarang and all despite all the odds... or was it REALLY sportsmanship?
Hwoarang
, on the other hand, has poor sportsmanship. He is a sore loser: when his fight with Jin resulted in a draw, he positively went ballistic
Intelligence:
I would say that Jin has a high IQ (intelligence quota). Despite not having any education till fifteen, he handles himself pretty well at the Mishima Industrial High, the school his grandfather funded. However, in terms of EQ (emotional quota), he has a low standard of it. His naivete will make it hard for him to enter the real world if he does not have his grandfather's wealth to back him up.
As for
Hwoarang, I am not too sure about the IQ part, because he is neither in school (I presume he is a drop-out), and he is definitely not the type of nerd (Jin) that would coop himself in his little room to study. But based on EQ, he has a very high one. Inspite of his young age, he has managed to run his own gang and command their respect (no one will really listen to you wholeheartedly if they do not respect you) and to successfully swindle many out of their money. Also, he is the tenacious type (after the big Draw with Jin, he trained harder to defeat him), so there might be some intelligence lurking in the shadows, one that requires some sense knocked into his head first to bring forth...
Fighting Ability:
Firstly, I must tell you that both fighters are VERY good, and that they go together like Yin and Yang in the sense that Jin is good with his fists (Karate emphasizes more on hand-work than leg-work anyway), while Hwoarang is a true kicking machine (Taekwondo does that to you). And basically, I must say that both have their advantages and disadvantages. However, this is not a strategy, so do not expect me to blabble everything out to you.

Jin... what can I say? He's surpassed his grandaddy's expectations in Mishima Fighting Karate, which is quite a big deal, and he ruined Hwoarang's perfect record.
Hwoarang
has a very advanced form, a complete master in his own time in ITF Taekwondo, and with the knowledge of a whole syllabus of moves and techniques (I can tell you this about him because I take Taekwondo myself, but unfortunately I am no Karate exponent, so none on Jin). Also, although it was stated that he did not beat Jin, remember that it was a DRAW, so Hwoarang is in no way weaker to the former as most tend to believe.
Competition:
For Jin, if you have no idea, then I suggest you take a tour around the rest of my Jin Kazama Shrine before you come back, though seriously, Jin might never have any competition, he just scores too well.
As for
Hwoarang, I'll be less stringent. Two words. Jin Kazama. It's true! If your daughter (assuming you'd already settled down) brought home both Jin and Hwoarang, who would you choose
Cooking
Jin spent fifteen years of his life out in the wilderness alone with his mother, so what do you think?
For
Hwoarang, like Tifa said, two words, Take-Out... Or was that one word?
In-Laws:
For Jin, the closest person would probably be his grandfather, considering the fact that both his parents are dead. But come to think of it, wouldn't you rather NOT have an in-law than someone like Heihachi at all?
And
Hwoarang? Baek. But then again he's dead.
Finance:
With Jin, anything you want, you got it. Not counting the PSX endings, when Heihachi dies, guess who the lucky heir to the empire will be? And you won't even have to lift a finger to get that mansion you long wanted, or perhaps a new Jag. Whatever.
Things might be a little tougher with Hwoarang, not counting his PSX ending, because his 'salary' is not a stable one. But at least here you do not rot away not doing anything (because you'll have to work to get by), and chances are you'll develop a sense of humility, and manage to stay out of those scandals the rich usually run into (like men who have lovers half their age, because no other girl in the prime of her youth would fall for an old man who lives in poverty... although there might be some exception in Hwoarang's case...).
Sex:
As much as I'd hate to touch on this, I was told it was necessary, so here goes...
To put it simply but crudely,
Jin has the appropriate 'tools', whileHwoarang has the 'knowledge'.
Think about it; I refuse to elaborate further here.
Overall:
Seriously, Jin might be a better choice for marriage material because of his personality (if you do not think so, I suggest a second analysis), but is not the kind of boy you might want to date in school because he is a studious goody-two-shoes nerd (just without the spectacles), so you cannot expect anything much.
Whereas for
Hwoarang, he might not be the ultimate guy to marry, unless of course he matures enough to know that he cannot continue the way he does forever (I think when he does, he'll be PERFECT, and even more so than Jin). But of course, he is a hot choice for a night of fun and a casual date or two... He's cooler than Jin, don't you think
