| On sept. 26, 1985, katina gave birth to kalina. she was the first calf to be born and raised in captivity. her father was winston. At the age of 8 she gave birth to a male calf named keet on ground hogs day of 93 in san diego. he was the first of a second generation of captive orcas. A year after keet's birth kalina became pregnant again by kotar (also keets father). she was moved back to S.W.F. to support the birth of her next calf. then on june 17, 95 she gave birth to keto. in march of 99 keto was transferred to S.W.S.D. Then again she was pregnant, this time by tillikum. then on june 22 of 99, tuar was born. kalina thrives in captivity, she enjoys her trainers and does alot of water works with them. she is larger then her mother couse of having a pacific resident influence. she is also the 2nd domenant female orca, being under her mother. kalina preforms often with katina, taima, tuar and her half brother and sister (taku and unna). since taima gave birth to tekoa, kalina has been caring for him for the main part. taima again shown herself to be an unfit mother so kalina is now tekoa's "step-mother". |
