Only a Song

Only a Song

The sweet violin harmony
Allows my hand to stretch to the sky
My eyes close
My mouth speak a foreign language
My palms move in a light air
And the music bursts,
along with my soul.
The music notes flow gently
I picture the beauty in my mind
Trees unseen to my face
Cracked stone walkways
Wonderful things in unfamiliar movies
Black and white
The music paints a portrait for my soul
I grip this wrinkled paper,
and flatten the world with my pen
Brick buildings
Small girls playing satin dresses
I kiss in a meadow of flowers
I tighten my eyes together
And sway my head carefree
Quiet now
The Lord is singing to me
