This report is a basic exploration of the 74LS00 NAND Gate. Data Sheet (Motorola PDF) This chip requires a 4.75 - 5.25 volt connection to pin 14 (Vcc) and a ground connection to pin 7. A voltage outside this range may damage the chip or cause unexpected operation. The chip is a quad input NAND. This means that the chip actually contains 4 NAND gates. The 4 gates are identical and function independantly as if they were single discrete NAND gates. If pin A and B both see a voltage between 0 - 0.7, then pin C outputs 5 volts. If pin A and B both see a voltage between 2 - 5, then pin C outputs 0 Volts. If pin A and B see a combination of low and high voltages, pin C outputs 5 volts.
