A Sacred Plea

An Original poem by Alanna Fox

Mother Earth & Father Sky,
I feel disconnected and I don't know why
Could it be there are no trees?
The air is bad, traffic noise makes my heart ill at ease
Mother, protect me from harm
Surge your energy up through the ground,
Let your loving warmth surround me
Move, shake, quake around
Startle everyone's reality
Your Volcanoes active, and spurting ash
Will awaken people in a mad dash
Scrambling because they don't remember
They too, were once an ember
A speck of dust on the horizon that
Sparkles when Grandfather Sun is risin'
Humans birthed from Your Womb
Born to create their own doom
Forgetting about their own Mother
Whom they proceed to cover
Cement buildings, ribbons of concrete,
Bigger towns, more cars, new streets.

Great Father, Spirit that is Sky,
I feel you choking and I hear your cries
Exhaust fumes, industrial pollutions,
Create acids, brown clouds that
Hurt your eyes
We need to find soon the solutions
Or, our whole Family will surely die
Father, let your Great Winds blow free
Save the animals and the trees
Again allow them to breathe
Show us how it was meant to be
Hurricanes, flash floods, tornadoes,
Thunderstorms, rain, lightning shows
Cleanse us with air and water,
Teach us that You also matter
It is by Your Wind that we were given breath,
Killing You creates our own death
Mother & Father help teach us,
Our Sisters and Brothers
About the true purpose of our path,
How we can avoid our own wrath
Brothers and Sisters, learn to join hands,
Please learn to understand
The real meaning of the Law of the Land:

"Honor Thy Father & Mother"

Mother Earth & Father Sky,
Connect us again--
Please, hear our cry…
