A TYPICAL HYPNOTHERAPY SESSION
At your first visit to a hypnotherapist , the therapist will take a detailed history of your case past and current treatments and of anymore general matters that may be relevant. You will be given a full explanation of what will happen during the session and you will be asked to take part in a discussion of what you want both to achieve.
Then the hypnotherapist will explain about hypnosis, and hypnotherapy and you will also at this point be able to ask any questions that you have about hypnosis, and hypnotherapy etc. If you are both happy to work together then you will be ask to sit or lay down and make yourself comfortable. the therapist will then start by relaxing you and then guiding you into the hypnotic state or induction as it is known. This is usually done by the therapist talking quietly and giving you suggestions that you are feeling relaxed progresively and then moving onto inducing the hypnotic state.
The hypnotic state is a feeling similar to dozing off to sleep and is a very calm relaxed feeling . although the word sleep is commonly used it means a hypnotic sleep not a natural sleep. 90% people can be hypnotized. when you are in hypnotic state your therapist will talk to you and may lead you through a pleasent visualization it may be a pleaseant calm scene,or a warm sunny beach for example.
Once in the hypnotic state you'll be given positive suggestions to help you to achieve your desired outcome then at the end that particular session the therapist will suggest how you will feel afterwards and then awaken you.
