About the Zeck family | ||||||||||||||

Early years | ||||||||||||||
Karen grew up in the beautiful woods near the Argonne Laboratory in Lemont, Illinois. Her dad was then the pastor of the Marion Hills Bible Church in Darien. Karen received Christ in her high school days while at a Christian camp. | ||||||||||||||
Hank grew up in Berwyn (a western suburb of Chicago) and asked Christ into his heart one night in the fourth grade while reading a New Testament given to him by his Sunday School teacher as a gift. | ||||||||||||||
High School | ||||||||||||||
Hank and Karen met when his parents moved to Hinsdale and began attending the Marion Hills Bible Church. After graduation, Karen went to Moody Bible Institute while Hank pursued his studies at a junior college in La Grange, Illinois. | ||||||||||||||
U.S. Army | ||||||||||||||
From 1966 to 1969 Hank worked as a U.S. Army missile technician for the Hawk Surface-to-Air Missile while Karen graduated from Moody with a degree in Christian education/Music and continued her education at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb. | ||||||||||||||
Wedding Bells | ||||||||||||||
Upon finishing his Army tour in Korea, Karen and Hank were married in July 1969. Hank worked as a TV repairman in DeKalb, Illinois while karen finished up her studies at NIU. After she graduated, they relocated to Cicero so Hank could enroll in the Missionary Radio Program at Moody Bible Institute. | ||||||||||||||
Moody Bible Institute | ||||||||||||||
Hank pursued his education in radio from 1971-1975 at Moody Bible Institute while Karen worked at Blue Cross in Chicago. Upon graduation Hank and Karen looked for where the Lord might use them. | ||||||||||||||
TWR Deputation | ||||||||||||||
They were accepted as TWR missionaries in September of 1976, and for 2 years presented the work that they would be involved in to various churches to build up their support base and enable them to go to the field. (TWR missionaries are supported entirely by the donations of churches and private individuals) | ||||||||||||||
TWR Service | ||||||||||||||
Hank and Karen served with Trans World Radio from 1976-2000. They were sent to Sri Lanka, Guam and then were on loan to the HCJB World Radio Engineering Center in Elkhart, Indiana | ||||||||||||||
HCJB Missionary Service | ||||||||||||||
The Zecks were accepted as missionaries with HCJB in January of 2001 and have been serving at the Engineering Center in Elkhart, Indiana | ||||||||||||||

The Family | ||||||||||||||
Hank has two brothers and one sister, all married. Karen has one sister who is also married. Between them, they have four nieces and four nephews. | ||||||||||||||
Hank and Karen have one son, Steven who was born in 1978. Steven had a job programming computers for the Chicago law firm. Chapman & Cutler. He is currently living in California and working in the computer department at the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital (associated with the University of California at Davis).
