(top) As you can see, there are three phillips screws holding the unit together. Inside this I found a metal box containing the below. |
To the left, is the antenna assembly (pink thing with metal casing). This houses a pc board as well...it even has a SiRF chip in there along with other components. The hole on the bottom of the upper metal casing (antenna assembly on the right) contains the connector housing for the pins on the bottom pc board (8 pins in all). Refer to PC Board 2 (top) for more information. |
The image on the left, displays the pc board that was attached to the metal casing on the bottom of the metal box. This pc board is my primary target of interest...as it has the usb controller on the bottom of it, along with the SiRF chip on the top. When I say "it was attached", I mean to get it off I had to desolder the board from the casing on one spot...shown below (it's above the usb controller and opposite the cable connector). This is where you could mess your board up...though I encountered little difficulty when putting it back together...you may not. |
The above image (middle) shows the overview of the bottom of PC Board 1. Here, I believe, is where the chip the data coming from the usb host controller is going to(CY7C64013 Cypress Semiconductor). |
