April 6, 2003 @ The Metro, Chicago, IL w/ FATA, Recover, My Chemical Romance

My Chemical Romance played first. they were quite good. kind of a mix of taking back sunday and some old school punk. they got the crowd going pretty good. there were a few people crowd surfing.

Recover played second. i had heard lots of good things about them. they were pretty good but they didn't really get the crowd going. overall, i thought they were pretty decent.

From Autumn To Ashes was amazing. i managed to get myself to front and center by the time they came out. soem people were trying to get my spot, but when i told them i came all the way from ohio for the show, they got a bit less vicious. anyway, FATA opened with "reflections" (my favorite song by them). their entire set was very energy-charged. they played about 7 or 8 songs. one was a new one. they closed with "short stories with tragic ending" which i though was kind of a bad idea. they didn't really go out with a bang.

Taking Back Sunday. wow. they played all the songs except "head club" off tell all your friends, plus they played ballad of sal, your own disaster, and 2 new songs. adam is amazing. it's hard to pay attention to the rest of the band, or anything, when he is on stage. he has so much energy. during "timberwolves at new jersey" i looked behind me to check for crowd surfers, and when i turned back around he was diving over my head in a super man like fashion. on his way back to the stage, i helped him over the barrier. the energy was probably highest during "cute without the 'e'". the entire crowd seemed really into the music. everyone was singing with most of the songs (obviously no one knew the new songs, which were quite good). they even played an encore after everyone chanted "one more song, one more song...". they played "the blue channel", which they said they hadn't played in for like 3 weeks. they also said it was like the first time they played an encore on this tour. i! t was rad. i got a drumstick. i really wanted a set list but i shall settle with my drumstick.
