Think 'Eye-Max', in that this caters for those who wish they could have a say at the Oscars or the Golden Globes, or wish they were a member of the Boston Society Of Film Critics, or long to be a jury member at Cannes or Venice. Non-professionals can help make these awards something to talk about as we dive into 2003, hoping to reward the films WE think worthy of praise. Basically, a usually misplaced viewpoint of films and their success, taking our opinions to the top. Think 'Eye-Max'. THE BEAUTY SHOW The 3rd annual IMACS awards follow form as 'Chicago' and 'A Beautiful Mind' scoop 4 gongs each...

'Chicago' and 'A Beautiful Mind' storm ahead of the pack picking up 4 wins apiece from the big 6 at this year's IMACS awards. Rob Marshall was unlucky to miss out on director (after his Oscar miss too) and paved the way for Ron Howard (perhaps luckier to pick up last year's Oscar); 'A Beautiful Mind' also garnered Lead Actor (Crowe), Featured Actress (Connelly) and Screenwriting - Adapted. 'Chicago' matched this feat with wins for Gere and Zellweger (pipping Zeta Jones) in the Lead Actress and Featured Actor categories, plus the Editing award.      John Williams capitalised on 2 nominations with a win for his 'Harry Potter & The Chamber Of Secrets' music. 'The Lord Of The Rings: The Two Towers' grabbed two (unlike like last year) this time for Decoration and Audio Visual Effects, with the late great Conrad L Hall outpacing his counterparts for Photography. Refreshing were the wins for Nia Vardalos ('My Big Fat Greek Wedding') for her Screenwriting - Original, Eminem's song "Lose Yourself" from '8 Mile' took Song and the Breakthrough win which honoured Jennifer Westfeldt and Heather Juergensen for their writing and acting in 'Kissing Jessica Stein'. THE 2002 INTERNATIONAL MOVIES AMATEUR CRITICS SOCIETY CATEGORIES AND CONTENDERS BELOW IS THE FULL LIST OF THE 15 CATEGORIES THAT WILL SEE THE BEST FILMS OF THE YEAR DO BATTLE. EACH CATEGORY HAS A LINK TO THE CONTENDERS (THANK YOU TO 'EMPIRE' AND 'SIGHT & SOUND' MAGAZINES, AND THE INTERNET MOVIE DATABASE) FOR NEXT SEASON'S I.M.A.C.S. AWARDS.
