Declaration of the 7th Conference of komak-ml , now IA.RKP on the Reestablishment of our Organisation Six years ago in Austria three groups united to form KOMAK-ML. The unification failed. We then overestimated the degree of agreement. Already in the first years a majority of the members and activists of two of the three organisations left the common project. By the time a situation emerged that made it impossible to discuss differences in an open and fruitful way leading to conditions where in fact two groups existed side by side that obstructed their work reciprocally and increasingly. More and more the minority faction did not observe the decisions made according to democratic centralism and so actively obstructed the common party building. When an extraordinary general meeting, where we aimed at an amicable separation, ended without solution in this sense we separated from the faction obstructing the party building. Therefore on our 7th conference two former members were expelled. We realize that in the present situation the Austrian working class does not care at all if two small groups split. A separation makes sense in any case when two groups cannot work together any longer. Communists have the duty of preparing Revolution, not of wasting their time and energy in group dynamics and digs. The KOMAK-ML project failed but we rate the documents, especially the founding declaration and the theses, as a binding basis for our future political work. The construction of a firm cadre party is indispensable for a Socialist Revolution. Therefore we welcome all efforts for the construction of a Revolutionary Communist Party in Austria. On the 7th conference we decided to reestablish our organisation and adopt a new name because the former one put together from “komak” and “IML” (two of the groups before 2002) did not reflect any longer the reality in our organisation. Our new name better corresponds with our essence and our intention and therefore expresses our priorities more clearly: IA.RKP (the German abbreviation for) Initiative for the Construction of a Revolutionary Commmunist Party (in German: „Initiative fuer den Aufbau einer Revolutionaer Kommunistischen Partei “) At the same time we decided to change the name of our paper into „Proletarian Revolution”. We will soon publish a longer statement (first in German) trying to critically assess the experience of the last six years of our struggle for party building. Wien/Vienna (Austria), December 2007 ===== “On the contrary, the stronger our party organisation led by real socialists will be the less fickling and unstableness will be within the party, the broader, varied, richer and more fruitful will be the influence of the party on the elements of the masses of workers surrounding it and led by it. The party as the vanguard of the working class must really not be mixed up with the whole class. And just such a confusion (characteristic for our opportunist economism as a whole) is made by Com. Axelrod saying: ‘Of course we first of all form an organisation of the most active elements of the party, an organisation of revolutionaries, but being a party of the class we must be careful that people do not remain out of the party who consciously, maybe not fully actively however, join this party.” V.I.Lenin, One step forwand, two steps back (The crisis in our party) 1904 – our translation from German.
