In 1993 Brett's Mum gave us a copy of an old birth certificate of her Grandmother, that was no longer needed. The only information that was useful in our new interest of "doing the family tree" were the surnames BROWN and WHYBROW, along with the place of birth, "Hardwick", near Camden, NSW.

As Brown is a common surname, we decided to trace the Whybrow line.
It led us to find that Brett is decended from the convict
William WHYBROW
(spelt Whybrew at the time), who was sent here in 1824 on the ship
"Mangles 3". He was put to work for John Oxley, explorer and surveyor at his property "Kirkham", which is situated between Camden and Narellan.

Whybrow was at one stage working for John Macarthur on Camden Park estate and at the end of his life was a tennant farmer at "Hardwick"
which was owned at the time by Hannibal Macarthur.
