to watch the light in anothers eyes

You didn't fulfill me, and yet;
I watch with certain pangs of regret.
There are parts of you that I love
and know; yet, there are parts of
you that need to grow.
You've disappointed me so oft,
the way your feelings so soon
turn off. I wanted to savour a bit
the love we shared; the candle we lit.
I wanted us to hold these emotions
close, and relive them exquisitely slow.
But it isn't in you, this same need.
Unbeknown to you, I lay vulnerable
and exposed like a naked seed.
It takes something from me that
I don't have to give. It leaves me
feeling weak and desolate.
So, I wish for your happiness
and yet; I watch with certain
pangs of regret.
