ADRIEN BRODY

I have not seen everything Adrien is in, but I am working on it! Below find my synopsis of the ones I have seen, and a few words about those I have not. Photo credits on main page.

The Singing Detective - First Hood (2003)

Remake of an earlier movie. I do not know the plot, but I know it should be a lighter role than we might be used to, since he has said he did it to take a break after Pianist.

The Pianist - Wladyslaw Szpilman (2002)

Wonderful, Oscar winning movie about a Jewish pianist who survives the Warsaw Ghetto. Adrien is brilliant in this!

Dummy - Steven (2002)

Steven is a ventriloquist. Apparently he is not a great one, and someone said he is still not great at the end, but that's okay!

The Affair of the Necklace - Nicolas De La Motte (2001)

Adrien plays the Count husband of a woman who is trying to get her good name back, after it was blackened by French nobility.

Love the Hard Way - Jack (2001)

Filmed some time ago, this is only being released this year. Official site is here. I went to NY shortly after it was released there, but it had already closed!

Harrison's Flowers - Kyle Morris (2000)

Sarah Lloyd does not believe her photojournalist husband, Harrison, is really dead in Yugoslavia. Kyle Morris is her sometimes unwilling helper in her quest to find Harrison alive.

Bread and Roses - Sam Shapiro (2000)

Illegal immigrants from Mexico work for substandard wages, and Sam works to unionize their building.

Liberty Heights - Van Kurtzman (1999)

Van, or Sylvan, is the older brother of two siblings whose father runs a Burlesque house, but runs numbers on the side. This is a movie about growing up in 1954-55 Baltimore.

Summer of Sam- Richie (1999)

This is a stunning movie about the summer of '77, when the .44 caliber killer stalked the streets of NY. Richie is accused of being the killer, just because he is different.

Oxygen - Harry (1999)

Harry is definitely one sick puppy. He takes a woman and buries her a live, then plays cat and mouse games with the police woman who is looking for her.

The Thin Red Line - Cpl. Fife (1998)

This was a bitter disappointment for Adrien - although billed high, most of his scenes ended up on the cutting room floor. Will they return, we wonder, now that Oscar has made a visit?

Ten Benny (Sweet Jersey) - Ray (1998)

Ray wants to make it big, fast. After taking out a loan from a shark, he loses it all on a race.

Restaurant - Chris Calloway (1998)

Chris is a bartender and a playwright. He also has a thing for African American girls, and a history with one that interferes with his relationship to another. Lurking racism, put there by his father, comes as quite a shock!

Six Ways to Sunday - Arnie Finklestein (1997)

Arnie is an enforcer with the Jewish Mafia. A friend of his does a better job, however, and poor Arnie loses more than just his position!

The Undertaker's Wedding - Mario Bellini (1997)

Undertaker falls for the wife of a mobster whose death he has helped fake. Very cute and funny movie, IMO.

The Last Time I Committed Suicide - Ben (1997)

Movie based on Neal Cassady's letter to Jack Kerouac.Ben is a minor character, and clearly gay, but he actually does have a purpose in the plot.

Bullet - Ruby (1996)

Butch Stein, also known as Bullet, comes out of jail and returns to his disfunctional family. In many ways, it is too late for him, but it is not too late for his baby brother, Ruby, who has an incredible artistic talent.

Solo - Dr. Bill Stewart, Solo's Designer (1996)

A brilliant young man, Dr. Bill creates an android whose only drawback is that he will not kill indiscriminantly.

Jailbreakers (TV) - Skinny (1994)

Good Girl (Angel) goes bad when she falls in with Bad Boy (Tony). Skinny is in Tony's gang. There is actually a little more to Skinny than I expected, which was good because it made watching this almost bearable!

Angels in the Outfield - Danny Hemmerling (1994)

A young boy prays for a baseball team to win, when his father says they would once more be a family should that miracle occur. Danny is one of the players who has an angelic encounter.

King of the Hill - Lester Silverstone (1993)

Steven Soderbergh's well done film about a young man trying to survive the Depression.Lester is the boy's best friend and the one person always there for him (almost!)

New York Stories - Mel (1989)

I am sorry to say I really cannot find Mel at all in this rather strange tale of a young girl returning an earring to an Arabic Princess at a party in NYC.

Home at Last (TV) - Billy (1988)

Billy is an orphan who is given another chance at life when he is sent West on an Orphan Train.

"Annie McGuire" (TV Series)- Lenny McGuire (1988)

Lenny was Annie McGuire (played by Mary Tyler Moore)'s son in this short-lived series.
