Saturday we went to Nong Nooch Park. It's close to Pattaya and Khun Rung and his son came in with us to have a look around.

A display of stick fighting. Nobody got hurt, there was a display of Thai boxing too. I want to go and see some of that but the bar manager in the hotel told me it is all faked in Pattaya and that the nearest place to see genuine boxing is Bangkok. |

Elephant basketball. The things they can teach an elephant to do are amazing. It's gives me a bit of mixed feelings, impressed by their skills but sad for them that they have to spend their lives performing. This is the place where the tourist was killed by an angry elephant. The rail you can see separating the animals from the audience was only erected after the fatality. It doesn't stop the young elephants from getting to the audience. |

The reward for their performance is bananas from the audience. It was during this handover of bananas that the tourist was killed because some fellow tourists were teasing the animal and it got pissed off. Don't ever piss off an animal that can squash you flat. |
