IB: Yes or No?
There has been a large amount of confusion about the IB system, many are in support of it without being in possession of the full facts, some facts which have been deliberately withheld from you. This website aims to provide information on the IB system in comparison to the new A/S and A level system which is currently used by the ESF.
In its presentation to the parents the ESF discussed the weaknesses of the A-levels, but never discussed the weaknesses of IB. Therefore, in terms of keeping you completely informed, this website also intends to inform you of such withheld details.  We have also come up with some startling information from our sources and from our significant hours of research into information from the IB Organisation website.
The information on this website (the forum and urgent notices) does change so please come back again in the near future.
All this work  has been done for you, the parents, so that you can make an informed choice about your child's future education.
  URGENT NOTICES
----  Graham Ranger (ESFActing Senior Education Officer) participated in the  RTHK Radio 3's recent 'Backchat' program where all those with opinions to share , in this case with regard to the IB, could call in. It should be noted that it has been confirmed by those in the radio studio that at least two of the calls supporting the IB were actually set up by Mr Ranger.
Click here for more details and to download the show broadcasted on RTHK radio 3.

Analysis of official IB website (ibo.org) reveals only 48 schools (out of over 3500)  in England run IB Diploma and 81% of them run it alongside the A-levels so that their students have a CHOICE.  The other 19% are all academically selective schools which ESF schools are not. On top of this, schools listed on their website mysteriously seem to have NO student population. Click here for full details of our research.

----
UCAS (Application organisation for UK Universities) automatically receives student results from many education systems from A-levels, Scottish and Irish Leaving Certificates and even the  HKCEE BUT NOT IB results.   It does not look like the IB is as widely accepted as the ESF says it is.

---- The Princopal of a school in HK doing IB stated that if a student does not achieve at least 5 A's at GCSE they will not be considered for the IB programme
THE REALITY OF IB
The facts that you may not have been told and the information you should know before you decide what you want for your childs future. This information is completely true and can be verified with any basic indepth research. Some however does come from confidential sources within the ESF and other International schools. Did you know, for example, how expensive IB is? Click here to reveal what ESF has not told you
Why does the ESF want this change
Rebuttal to ESF's "Weaknesses of A-levels"
In the ESF's  presentation to the parents they  missed out on providing both sides to the story. They gave us the weaknesses of the A-levels, but no weaknesses to the IB.  However, the A-level weaknesses can be easily argued as has been done here by the deputy head of one International school.
DISCUSSION FORUM
To voice your opinion or pass on information please email us at ibdetails@hotmail.com. All information will be kept confidential unless otherwise requested and all emails will be deleted as soon as we have read what you say.
Questions parents want answered by ESF
1) Why were parents whose children are not in Years 7, 8 and 9 invited to the IB information evenings and yet not sent a survey questionnaire so they can voice their opinion? Children in primary schools will also have to go through IB if the change is implemented. Shouldn't their parents have a say too?

2) Why do ALL schools have to be changed to IB; why can't we do both methods but at different schools therefore leaving us some choice?
