The lbeku Heritage serves the community of education, and the wider public, by treasuring the past, educating the present, and inspiring ibeku of the future in Culture,tradition ,organization and values..There are many other things that make up Ibeku heritage. These individual items when viewed as a whole reflects our rich background filled with traditions.

The anthropology and psychology that seek to place the work of the expedition's anthropologists within the history of Ibeku tended to obscure the intellectual contribution of our people in various ways, Ibeku will maintain anthropology and psychology as separate disciplines. We, in Ibeku, wish to make sense of self and society in the post-national phase of human history.

We cherish the Cultural diversity in igbo-land, a new universal ethic in the cause of development and peace. We are a part of it. importance of Cross-understanding.. festival that showcases different cultures,, Events, celebrations and festivals in our community, Events run by organizations in your community.

Intangible Heritage

The Ibeku Intangible cultural heritage is our practices, representations, expressions, as well as the knowledge and skills, in tradition,culture and organization that our communities, groups and, in some cases, individuals recognize as part of the cultural heritage. It is sometimes called living cultural heritage, and is manifested inter alia in the following domains. oral traditions and expressions, including language as a vehicle of the intangible cultural heritage;
performing arts;
social practices, rituals and festive events;
knowledge and practices concerning nature and the universe;
traditional craftsmanship.

Our intangible cultural heritage is transmitted from generation to generation, and is constantly recreated by our communities and groups, in response to our environment, our interaction with nature, and our historical conditions of existence. It provides our people a sense of identity and continuity, and its safeguarding promotes, sustains, and develops cultural diversity and human creativity.

[1] Oral heritage ….. a popular and traditional cultural expression of outstanding value from an historical, artistic, ethnological, linguistic or literary point. The older men of each egwu has these historical facts the need preserved. Prior to writing, historical facts were handed down orally and in pictorial forms

[2] Living human treasures…… exceptionally talented tradition bearers and craftspeople and to encourage the transmission of their knowledge, know-how and skills to the younger generations.

[3] Endangered dialects…… Languages form an essential part of the living heritage of humanity. in ibeku, we have variations that need preservation. It is very exciting to use ones dialect and language to narrow one to his / her kindred.

According to UNESCO [ UN body ] who does a lot work world heritage,

· Over 50% of the world’s 6000 languages are endangered.

· 96% of the world’s 6000 languages are spoken by 4% of the world’s population

· 90% of the world’s languages are not represented on the Internet

· One language disappears on average every two weeks

· 80% of African languages have no orthography

· Half of all languages occur in only eight countries: Papua New Guinea (832), Indonesia (731), Nigeria (515), India (400), Mexico (295), Cameroon (286), Australia (268) and Brazil (234)

· Research shows that mother-tongue instruction combined with the majority language, gives the best results at school and fosters children's cognitive development and learning ability

· Both children and adults can learn a new language without it being at the expense of another language

Ibeku people make music and love music, traditional popular and classical music, sacred music, music of rural and urban origin and festive or carnival music that involves singing, the playing of instruments and dancing. Traditional Music and instruments convey the deeply rooted spiritual and aesthetic values of our groups and communities, requiring knowledge in many spheres.
