"TIME SET ASIDE" The sounds of the rushing water beating against my ears as I awaken from a long sleep. As I unzip my tent door to rise under God's creative wonders, I feel His loving arms wrapped around me in nature. Thats how it feels here in the Idaho mountains-with running streams surrounding me. Could Jesus feel His Fathers love as he lay his head down in nature? I think so. "JESUS SAID TO HIM, FOXES HAVE HOLES AND BIRDS OF THE AIR HAVE NESTS, BUT THE SON OF MAN HAS NO WHERE TO LAY HIS HEAD." Matt. 8:20 We have been so blessed with the love and sounds of Gods creativeness of nature. When life seems to much, and the caregiving and every day hussel and stress get me down, oh how I long to go off into Gods nook of love.......the mountains. Can I give up my comforts of home? You bet! When I spend this time alone with my Lord, I can truly see and understand why God says, "LOOK AT THE BIRDS OF THE AIR, FOR THEY NEITHER SOW NOR REEP NOR GATHER INTO BARNS; YET YOUR HEAVENLY FATHER FEEDS THEM. ARE YOU NOT OF MORE VALUE THAN THEY? Matt. 6:26 Caregiving can get you down. We need to take time for ourselves and rest in the arms of Jesus-- If we really love our loved ones, we will take time to sit at Jesus' feet-first every day....and let Him fill us with His strength and love. Only then, can we share His love to our loved ones. I ask myself, Do I take time out of my busy day to just enjoy His love through nature? Not enough! But from now on if its Gods will, I will pack up my tent, ice chest, and sleeping bag and head for the lesson resort of life, Gods open and free book of nature. What awesome blessings he has in store for us there. What a small glance of what heaven may be like? It may not be possible for you to pack up and go off to the mountains. Drive hours to get away but God's nature is all around us, where ever we are. We must only stop, listen and look. To see and hear Gods love that is right with us always. "HE MAKES MY FEET LIKE THE FEET OF DEER, AND SETS ME ON MY HIGH PLACES." Ps. 18:33 We can be very blessed by taking time off and resting in Gods loving arms, that he holds so open in nature. And in return, our "rest" (time set aside with God) will shine through us on our loved ones. Copyright (c) July 1999 Debi Gentry |
