AL IBLIS Hails from Digos City, Davao del Sur, Philippines.Formerly under the name Schizophreniac, formed by Abdullah and Khalil, we changed the name and concept of our band due to several reasons. Under the former name, we were able to produce a single material titled 'Cute Little Worm', the idea of forming Schizophreniac then was to create less than two minute songs tackling trivial and nonsense matters. But things got serious upon receiving positive reaction from some listeners off 'Cute...' we decided to change course and focus our direction to deeper issues.
Iblis was the monicker chosen simply for the origin of the word itself  is arabic.  Inspired by Nile's preoccupation with Ancient Egypt, Iblis follows their trail by adopting an Arabic theme for the band. Abdullah has always been inspired by Arabic culture and attitudes especially their immense dedication to their religion, not to mention some of their many mystical qualities as human beings.  Were not into this just for the shit sake of adopting a band theme, but really for our admiration and awe for Arabic culture.
The band was able to play along Davao's well known underground bands on the 27th of March 2002. There were positive reactions from the crowd. It was rather fortunate that Limmah decided to join the band two weeks prior to the gig.Khalil on drums is just 12 years old, formerly with Buried Glory.
In June of 2002, Al Iblis unleashed their demo tape - Righteous Hegemony, containing 4 Aggressive Death Metal Tracks. This did not last long, as the demo tape finally ended up being an EP containing 6 original tracks, and one Deicide cover song. There indeed have been positive feedbacks from those who had their copies. There were a few live shows where the band got involved. Also, during this time, the line up had been Abdullah on Guitars, Limmah on Bass/Vox, and Khalil behind the Kit.
September 2002 was an uncertain period for the band. Khalil is set to leave for the UK permanently. At around this same period, things have been hurried in order for them to record their second material, this despite the fact that there weren't any double-pedals - let alone double-bass - available. Luckily by the first week of November that same year, they finished recording all their songs. Khalil was still able to play with the band, this was to be his last with them - November 6, 2002 - saw them blasting the stage with their furious live rendition of all their originals. There had been line up changes during this period: Khalil - Drums, Janistad - Bass, Abdullah - Guitars, Ismail - Vox.
January 2003. With Khalil out, things are pretty much sidelined as far as the band is concerned. Right now we have somewhat reincarnated the band, we are more focused on live performances these days. Current band line-up: Abdullah - Guitars, Limmah [Back from the Dead] - Bass/Vox, and Janistad - Kit.
In such a short period of time, there had already been a lot of band line-up changes, but "we're sure as hell bent on blasting stages!" - Abdullah As Abdel Atef Al Iblis
