The Iowa City Aerohawks is a chartered AMA club
dedicated to the promotion and advancement of radio control modeling. We
have one of the nicest facilities in the state with crossing fabric runways,
one 350’ x 50’, and the other 400’ x 50’. Complement this with a 1320 sq ft
heated and air conditioned clubhouse and it’s hard to beat. Our field is
just a short drive west of Iowa City, Iowa approximately 2 miles west of
hi-way 218 on Melrose Avenue. (Map and aerial photos located on the “Club
Info” page of this website).
The Aerohawks are made up of approximately 80 members from all
walks of life, young and old. We are a very active club and always looking
for new members. Some of our annual events are, New Year’s Day Chili Fun
Fly, Maiden Voyage Day, Annual Float Fly, Annual Air Show, Sertoma Fun Fly,
Night Fly / Campout, Lone Tree Days Fun Fly, indoor electric flying through
out the winter months plus a few other activities sprinkled in for good
measure. FREE flight instruction for new members is available.
If this sounds like something you want to know more about, stop by
the field on Thursday evenings or Sunday afternoons during the warmer
months. You will certainly find club members having a great time flying and
socializing with others. We love to talk about the hobby, so bring plenty of
questions. We can even recommend what you need to get started. Another
option is to stop by a monthly meeting. We meet every first Tuesday of the
month at the Robert E. Lee Recreation Center in downtown Iowa City at 7:00
PM. We welcome ALL visitors.
Please feel free to spend some time looking around the website. Go
to the pictures and videos and see for yourself why this hobby is so darn
much fun. Thanks for visiting our website. We hope you will stop by and
check us out.
