PSIONICS





What is psionics? Psionics the practice of extraordinary psychic powers. Psionic powers are organized differently. All psionic powers are grouped into six disciplines: CLAIRSENTIENCE (expanded senses), PSYCHOKINESIS (moving mater through space), PSYCHOMETABOLISM (altering the body), PSYCHOPORTATION (psionic travel), TELEPATHY (mind-to-mind contact), and METACREATIVITY (an advanced discipline). Within each disciplines are major powers, called "sciences," and minor powers, called "devotions." Characters can only learn powers from teh disciplines they have access to.

Psionic strength points are not divided into attack, defense, and generic batches. All of a character's psionic strength points come from a single pool.

Is psionics magical?
The answer to that is no.
Magic is the ability to shape, control, harness, and utilize natural forces that infuse the realm and surrounds the characters. It is based on the principle that, through the use of words, gestures, and catalyzing materials of unique power, these external energies can be contolled. Key element of that statement is EXTERNAL ENERGY. Magical power does not come from inside the wizard or priest, but from somewhere else.

Psionics is the complete opposite of this. The psionicist shapes, controls, harnesses, and utilizes natural forces that infuse his own being. His effort is focused inward rather then outward. He must be completely in touch with and aware of even the tiniest workings of his body and mind.
This type of knowledge comes from long and intense meditation coupled with physical extremes. The psionicist finds enlightenment in both complete exhaustion and complete relaxation, in both pain and pleasure. The mind and body are only parts of a much greater unity. Indeed, discussing one without the other, as so many people do, seems nonsensical to a psionicist; they cannot be separated. The body produces energy and vitality, the mind gives it shape and reality.

Neither does the psionicist study or pray for his powers. He carries them with him wherever he goe. As long as his mind and body are reste-i.e.., as long as he has not depleted his psionic strength- his powers are available to him.

A psionicist cannot be of any chaotic alignment, if he should undergo an alignment change to the chaotic, he shall begin to lose his Psionic Strength Points (PSP's from now on). Only humans, halflings, dwarves, and gnomes have a high degree of psionic talent. Elves and half elves also exhibit some natural psionic ability, but they are unable to pursue it to high levels. The undead do not have psionic ability, although they may have some latent psychic ability, it is not to the high level of a human psionicist, and only humans can reach the highest thresholds of psionics.

Within the character class of psions, there does exist special subclasses. Not subclasses as in weaker, but as in specialized paths of study. There are 4 subclasses, the METAMIND, the PYROKINETICIST, the SLAYER, the SOULKNIFE. All 4 descriptions along with abilities can be found here PRESTIGE CLASSES.

All psionicists are capable of "feats" which feats do one of two things they either give your character a new capability or enhance one that you already posses: FEATS.

All psionicists can also wear "ectoplasmic skins" which are known as PSYCHOACTIVE SKINS. These skins are made up from fist sized globs of psionically charged ectoplasm.

Psionicists are also capable of having a third eye which isn't really an eye per say, but a crystal fashioned in a particular way and embedded with a psionic power. THIRD EYES

Psions are just like other characters in that they do have armor, shields, and weapons, but they tend to favor those which are psionic in nature. Psionic shields and armor along with psionic weapons, they all have their own unique abilities.
