Much like the Civil War, the demarcation line was very obvious, Forwards vs Defense.
"The pretty boy Forwards couldn’t handle all the press the veteran laden Defense was getting". Commented ESPN analyst Barry Melrose
Goon forward Troy Rickheim responded to the lack of press he received, “Look at me; all the ladies in Chicago wanted me”.
Kevin Lewis, one of the remaining forwards with the Ice Bats shot back at Rickhiem, “When you have to pay woman to hang around you, you’re no Brad Pitt, and you still owe me $10”.
With the split, a new team was created; the Bullheads. This new team, with high expectations, and low amount of groupies will need to prove the split was more than a move of pure vanity.
The Ice Bats will be without goalie Jeff Kocovsky, which leads to the question, will National Tournament MVP Bob "Mad Dog" Ranalla return to net? Sources close to the team say Ranalla wants to skate out, to allow him to run over, punch, and pretty much intimidate the other team.
The Bullheads are without any goalie, so will they need to go to Home Depot and buy some plywood, or will they find someone crazy enough to stand in against a Hedlund slap shot from the point?
Fans of D1 will be watching to see what division the teams will be placed in, as games could turn into a Hanson brother type slug fest.
