Synchronized Skating is a highly technical and exciting form of team skating. Teams made of eight to 24 skaters perform intricate footwork, various holds and quick changes of direction on the ice. Often compared to synchronized swimming or the Rockettes on ice, team members strive to perform the difficult maneuvers perfectly synchronized and choreographed to music.
Synchronized Skating (formerly known as Precision Team Skating) was created by Dr. Richard Porter in 1954. In the past decade the sport has seen a rapid emergence as one of the fastest growing disciplines within the United States Figuring Skating Association. Each year more than 400 teams are registered with the USFSA.
Last year the first Synchronized Team Skating World Championship was held in Minneapolis, Minnesota with 21 teams from around the world competing. back
Formed in 1999, Team Ice Connection is Brandon's premier synchronized skating team. The team, which competes at the USFSA Teen Introductory level, consists of nine skaters. Practicing two hours a week on and off the ice, the team hopes to continue to grow in number and mastery of synchronized team skating. back
