Pre-Kindergarten plays a vital role for ensuring success in a child's future learning. It is here they learn how to function in a school atmosphere under the guidance of loving teachers who work dilegently to prepare them for the years ahead. Learning here is a fun time where skills and objectives are eagerly learned and discovered. From coloring to counting, writing their names to singing the alphabet song, school becomes a fun place to be!

Kindergarten begins the regular school career of our students. Through games, role playing, modeling, and practice our students begin a learning process that will stay with them through out their lives. In this first year, emphasis is placed on learning such things as colors, numbers, beginning reading skills, personal grooming and hygene, cooperation and sharing, and group participation. The days are busy and full of fun and discovery. However, not so busy that nap time is missed.

First grade begins the indepth learning of skills for our students. Through the use of manipulatives they learn to count to 100, add and subtract to 18, use ordinal numbers, and begin the understanding of fractions. Students become involved in local geography, enjoy reading stories, and learn the days of the week. Time is spent with Mr. Clock and money becomes a useful commodity. With all their new found knowlege however, recess is still the best subject of all.

Emphasis in the Second grade is placed on vocabulary, listening/speaking, reading, writing and problem solving. Students learn phonetic strategies to read by, develop beginning writing skills, begin using reference and study skills, work with addition and subtraction and learn problem solving skills. Science and social studies are times of discovery and PE offers them an opportunity to grow stronger and run off a great deal of energy.

Third grade picks up where second grade leaves off. Students now learn their multiplication tables as well as simple division. Social studies focuses on the community and science teaches our students about creepy crawly thingys and the stars. Reading skills are further developed as students master concepts and skills necessary to pass the third grade exam. PE is still the favorite subject of the day as organized games allow the students to enjoy the competion. However, any student will tell you it is the cool field trips that make the third grade worth while.

Fourth and fifth grades find the students preparing themselves for the Middle School. Learning to change classes is hard work! But all to soon they settle down to learn the mechanics of math, write stories, travel around the globe in history, and discover the magic of the sciences. With the help of classroom computers, these subjects come alive and aid them in more indepth learning. This is also the time when social skills are learned as they participate in various clubs, sports, and organizations. So young to be so grown!
