Confused?
MainAboutMonthly  MeditationsWeekly MeditationsTopic MeditationsResources
The month that we are now in – Cancer – is typically a stressful time. Have you felt it? Emotions are heightened; feelings are running deeper than usual. There is a lack of clarity. When we can’t focus we tend to get depressed. I have a friend who says she wakes up every morning crying, for no apparent reason.

But there is a reason.

Abraham, the first kabbalist, taught us that this month the universe presents you with the challenge of confusion for one reason alone - to give you a chance to strengthen your certainty. You can’t have certainty in your life until you remove the confusion, the doubts.

The confusion you are now experiencing is a vaccination. Vaccines usually include a little dose of the poison itself, in order to give the body the opportunity to overcome it. By facing your confusion this month, you are becoming the cause of your clarity. You are earning it, which is always where the fulfillment comes from.

And there is another powerful secret hidden within this month.

What most of the world doesn’t know is that Abraham assigned the names to the months and the astrological signs. (This is explained in more detail in the book
Kabbalistic Astrology.) Abraham understood that the seed of cancer is planted during this month. It might not show up for years, but this is where it starts.

How does it start? Contrary to the conventional wisdom, it is not caused by genetics or environmental factors. The root of cancer is your consciousness.

You see, in Aramaic, the word for Cancer is Sartan. The two words that created Sartan are sar which means “remove” and tan which means “confusion.”

Abraham provided future generations with the secret to preventing cancer: remove confusion.

What’s the connection between cancer and confusion? Cancer specialists explain that each cell of the body has its own DNA commanding it. What the cell does and how it does it is governed by the structure and the sequences contained within the DNA.

When the information within the DNA becomes chaotic, it causes the cells to grow abnormally. At first, the immune system kills off these bad cells, but if the cancerous cells continue to grow, then these faulty, chaotic cells overwhelm the “healthy” ones, resulting in body breakdown.

The DNA becomes chaotic. What this really means is that the DNA becomes confused. Science tells us that cancer cells contain an extra negative charge as compared with normal cells. According to Kabbalah, that negative charge is the desire to receive for oneself alone. In other words, the root problem of cancer cells is an imbalance between the positive and negative charge of the cell.

When you are confused and obsessing over the details of your life, you are completely stuck in this desire to receive for yourself alone. You are busy with yourself – ‘what am I gonna eat, when am I gonna lose weight, where should I go to college, who should I date, why am I so bad’. Me, me, me.

When you find yourself stuck inside yourself, remember this – JUMP! Jump outside of yourself, look around you, focus on someone else. Maybe that guy in the corner sitting by himself could use a friendly hello. Perhaps it’s time you called your mom to tell her you love her. Do anything to stop from digging yourself deeper into a hole.

I watched a television news story this morning about a young boy, Mattie Stepanek, who died at age 13, after living his entire life with a rare neuromuscular disorder. All his life, he wrote poetry, choosing to focus on the beautiful things while sharing it with the world. He became nationally known as a "peacemaker and poet" and he published five books, appeared on numerous television programs and developed a close friendship with former President Jimmy Carter.

Here is a person who had every right to feel like a victim to life’s injustice, yet he transformed this supreme difficulty into a blessing for himself and for others.

This boy was obviously special. Most of us need help to have his level of certainty and consciousness, which is why the kabbalists provided us with tools. So if you find your mental outlook overwhelmed by uncertainty, disorder or even chaos, try the following:

Share – go outside of yourself, help and think of others.

Get clarity - You are not your feelings. Just because you are feeling blue doesn’t mean that you are blue. Feelings are fickle and you need to restrict from holding onto them too tightly.

72 Names - Many people tell me that they print the weekly Name out and carry it around with them. Why not get the 72 Name Meditation Cards at The Kabbalah Centre bookstores or at www.72.com? This is a great way to bring the Names into your life on a daily basis.

The Zohar - Scanning these powerful Aramaic letters connects you to the Lightforce of the Creator and reprograms your physical and spiritual DNA which in turn, will help you positively transform whatever challenge you are facing.

This week (and month) is the most powerful and awesome celestial channel for preventing cancer. Use the tools above, and as always, consult with your teacher or one of the highly-qualified Kabbalah Instructors at Student Support (1-800-Kabbalah) a free consultation service offered by The Kabbalah Centre.

And as always, don’t forget to email me if you have a story that will inspire others.

All the Best,
