How To Make Doll Icons!

Part 1: Making a Doll
First, you need to make a doll. I will give you this website, but you will have to find others, b/c I will not tell you! Go to Dollzmania and when the page loads, click where it says "enter." Then, once that page loads, click on the link at the left that says "Dollmakers" and choose one of the makers once the third page loads. Once you have chosen your dollmaker and the page has loaded up, put the pieces together to make a doll. It’s not that hard really.

Part 2: Saving the Doll
Once you have made the doll, open 2 paint windows so you can save her! Right away, save ONE of the windows as "Dolls.gif". It is important that you remember to change it to .gif b/c it makes it easier when going to animate your icons. The other paint can remain untitled. Go back to the window where you made your doll and press the "Print Screen Key" located on the upper right-hand corner of your keyboard. Then go to the untitled paint window and press edit-paste and a copy of the screen should appear. Find where your doll is on the screen. Then, click the cut-tool from the menu...it should be the dotted-line rectangle at the top right, looking like this . Use it to draw a box around the doll, and once that it done, click edit-cut. Go to the paint titled "Dolls.gif" and press edit-paste and she should now be the only thing in there. Simply save the file, and the doll is yours until you delete the file!

Part 3: Making Doll Icons
Remember how we made the file that was a 50x50 .gif? We will need that file now to be opened. Go to your "Dolls.gif" file and pick out a doll you want on your icon. Using the cut tool, , draw a 50x50 square around part of the doll you want to show up on the icon. You will know the box you are drawing is at 50x50 by looking at the bottom right-hand part of the screen. This is what you should have, more or less.. Notice the dotted line box drawn around the chosen dolls. Select edit-copy, and then go to the 50x50 .gif file we made previously. Click edit-paste and what should now appear should be something like this:. That is a 50x50 square with a doll on it. Congratulations, you have just made a doll icon. If you want to add words, you should click the button and then draw a little box on the dolls where you want the words to be. Type what you want. My example: . U can animate it using the animation program I recommended in the section about animation. You, too can make an icon that looks just like this one:
