                         This Trainers Pledge

I pledge to thee Great Greyhound , second fastest mammal  of God's creation, to hear your pleas of happiness, and comfort, to do my best and be better than the rest, to lift your spirits when you weren't better than the rest even though you tried your best.
Although I understand to race is to win, I don't have to agree what happens in the end. Oh Great Greyhound of mine, you gave it your best and in the end whether you go fast or slow, end up near or far,you will always be dear to my heart. I'll think of you and remember when and the smile will begin.
I pledge to thee Great Greyhound of mine, to accept you no matter your speed, fast ot slow, it doesn't matter to me. I understand you love to run, and be better than the best, to make me proud and see my grin, but I understand everytime you give it your best, and to me you are better than the rest, you Great Greyhound of mine, and for this I understand your desire to please only me.
I pledge to thee Great Greyhound of mine, to make your life as happy as I'm capable, and to have no prejudice, whether fast or slow, no matter your speed, I will do my best and be better than the rest, win you over and gain your trust, because you do your best for me.
Oh Great Greyhound of mine, I envy your desire and  your passion to run,  and the unconditional love you have for me. I wish more trainers could feel the desire I have for you to succeed, but fast or slow, you give it your all, for I can see my happiness makes you the happiest dog of them all.
I pledge to thee Great Greyhound of mine, to feel your pain, and try to relieve, and in the end, give you what you truly desire, the best home within my power, a heart to hold and love as you have done mine.
I pledge to thee Great Greyhound of mine, crippled or maimed, to slow to succeed, to love you no matter your speed.
Written by: Carrie  ( trainer Thunderbird kennel) March 6, 2001, this pledge is dedicated to all of my Oshkosh kids, and it truly comes from my heart.
I was introduced the greyhound racing career about five years ago. I was just out of college and working as a critical care nurse, yes, I gave it all up for the dog business.  The first time I saw a greyhound race, I was amazed by the speed, grace, and the look of these dogs. All I wanted to do was pet one. Well the next thing I know, i had quit my job, worked long hours for nothing just to learn, and finally landed myself a job with the dogs. I didn't know then, the bad side of this career. Boy, did I learn quick.  They have taught me to love myself, because bad hairday or not they do, and they have most of all taught me how to love something unconditionally, not to mention heartache and pain. I love these dogs and I'm dedicating my life to them. So look, browse, check it out, but remember this site was built out of love. I have no regrets for giving it all up for them, I have a wonderful home now, and a great husband which shares my interest and worries about these dogs. If I hadn't done all of this, I wouldn't have met him. The answer to my prayers.
