The Name

I started work on doing my personal site, Confines version1 in July 2004. Before that, I've never really given a name to my collective. As a last minute decision, i gave the name Confines of My Soul to my personal site, since i wanted to do something that was about me, and what i thought and felt. Confines of My Soul literally means the purview or bounded scopes of my spiritual self - my emotional centre. In the context of this site, what i mean by the name is that my collective centres around the depths of me, my thoughts, and what i feel. Soulfully me.

The Content

I put up my personal site because i wanted people - my friends in particular; to have access to me online through a website.
I thought my website would serve as a perfect way to show who i am and why i have become the person that i am. Almost everyone does not understand me - even i have trouble understanding myself. My words and actions often come off differently than i intend, and do not show my true self, or what i really mean underneath it all. I wanted people to see why i do the things i do, what i believe in, why i think the way i do, as well as why i am a very weird person.

From the beginning

I started building my own site back in late 2000, under another Yahoo!ID using the templates on theYahoo! Page Wizard. What got me into building my own site was the fact that many sites were hosted by geocities, and i signed up with geocities out of curiousity.

After starting out with a simple personal site, i started to expand my site by building an anime fansite back in early 2001, using Yahoo! Page Builder. Of course, back then, i had very little HTML knowledge, and no experience in graphic design. From there, I worked on my site, and tried to learn more about web design and HTML. I continued with my anime fansite, and it got hits.

In an effort to promote my site and get more visitors, i decided to share some of my webspace with a fellow affiliate. She then built her site under my Yahoo! ID, and we both slowly got a slight increase in site traffic.

By late 2002, i started work on my avril fansite after having made a new Yahoo! ID, icy_flame44. Having improved slightly in web design and graphics, i then moved some of my content to tripod. In 2003, i moved all my avril fansite content to tripod, and that formed AvrilMusic Tripod.

By that time, i have stopped using my older ID which i shared with my fellow affiliate who had also stopped work on her site.

Not having much time to update my site regularly, i left my site idle for a few months, and then decided to begin refurbishing it in June 2004. Now, knowing a little more about web design, graphics, and HTML, thanks to my friend kioku, who has helped me a lot, here i am, with my new and improved Confines.
