|UNDETECTABLE BATTERY REMOVAL
(Warning! These methods have NOT been teacher-tested. Different teachers might be cleverer than others and may detect your deed. Do this at your own risk!)
|To remove batteries of the BTIO doll to stop its speakers from waking one up in the AM. Teachers warn students, "Never attempt to open the box to remove the batteries. For one, damage will be detected and should there be no activity in the doll, I'd know there was something wrong." Well, ok. Just take the batteries out when you're going to sleep and put them back in when you wake up. That way, you'll still get a grade.|
|No tools (besides your hands) are needed for this. This guarantees no marks or dents will be made by sharp or metallic objects.
|STEP ONE: ENTERING THE DOLL
o Carefully, pull the RIGHT plastic arm off the baby. It comes off. Though it is a bit difficult, it is a flexible and tough plastic. It is sure to be able to handle some pull. That is the end of step one. <PHOTO>
STEP TWO: OPENING THE BOX
o Besides putting the box back in, this is probably one of the more difficult steps. There is a small metal cube-like device in the doll. It is very noticible as it is the only silver and shiny object in reach.
o It is kept in place by a simple latch. Push on the side of the metal piece to compress the latch and push it out. <PHOTO> Hopefully, you can see the batteries now.
o Take out the batteries. Do not do step three until you have to return the baby (or before to get some practice in.) You'll want to be able to remove/replace the batteries when you want to.
STEP THREE: REPLACE THE BOX
o To undo what you've done is the hardest to do. I personally wiped my fingerprints from the metal cube as so not to be caught.
o Make sure the metal bar in the cube (which is attached to the cover of the battery box) is placed securely and cannot be pulled out. (The bar is the thing the key turns.)
o Place the cube neatly on the box itself.
o Place the cube (on the box) into the square slot.
o From inside the arm, push on the cube so that the latch hooks (This might take a while)
o Double check to see that the box is securely in place
STEP FOUR: Email
Email me to report how things went and how you would improve the instructions. And give hints to future temporary owners of the doll.
