Head to Head: San Francisco Consistently Comes Out On Top Against Dallas!

San Franciso has an all-time 14-12-1 winning record against Dallas.  In fact, San Francisco has won 10 of the last 15 meetings against the Crackwagon, including the last two and 4 of the last 5.  The fact Dallas has not beaten San Francisco since 1995 only proves how much in denial Cowboy fans truly are.  While Dallas fans are busy rejoicing as  the 49ers finally fell off in 1999 after nearly two decades of dominance, they seem to conveniently ignore the fact that their own beloved team hasn't even won an NFL playoff game since 1996!  Dallas stumbled into the playoffs last season with an mediocre 8-8 record, need I say more?  The reality is that some teams just know how to win.  In baseball, the Yankees continue to find themselves in the World Series hunt regardless of the decade, just as the Lakers are always among the NBA's elite teams year after year.  While I'll be the first to admit that San Francisco won't be winning the Super Bowl this coming season, I will say that they will find themselves back on top of the league in the very near future.  Bill Walsh has proven time and time again that he knows how to build a winning franchise, Steve Mariuchi proved by vanquishing the ghost of Green Bay in the playoffs in 1998 that he can coach in big games, and the Niner's scouts have proven time and time again that they can find hidden talent.

With An Aging Emmitt Smith, Troy Aikman's Weaknesses Will Show in 2000!

Emmitt Smith is a great NFL running back, but the reality is that he isn't the break away threat he was in the early-90's.  Even the most die-hard of Cowboy fans has to admit that Troy Aikman has NEVER proven he can win without Smith carrying the bulk of the offensive load.  Without Smith leading the way, Aikman is little more than a gloried Neil O'Donnell.  Much like O'Donnell, whose stats are almost identical, Aikman  has never been asked to win games through the air with his passing ability.  Without a solid ground game, Aikman is little more than an average NFL quarterback.  The glaring fact that most Dallas fans refuse to accept is that  Troy Aikman can't win games through the air.  Smith has always been and continues to be the heart and soul of the team.  Without him, Aikman falls under the pressure and the team is no better than a .500 has-been organization.  He isn't even in the same league with the likes of John Elway, Joe Montana, or Steve Young.  Need more evidence?  Since 1991, Dallas has lost well over half their games in which Smith failed to gain over a 100 yards on the ground, and they have lost an amazing 85% of their games when he hasn't played.  With an improved group of receivers at his disposal in 2000 and renewed hope for a final Super Bowl run before his destined retirement after another concussion, it's going to be a lot of fun watching Dallas end yet another disappointing season hovering around the .500 mark.
