A Dance With The Devil

A Dance With The Devil

Wrap me up tightly in your loving web,
In all the uncertainties and contradictions.
Hold me there closely ‘til these feelings ebb,
Until the novelty thins to transparency.
And then…keep me still.
Feed me to fatness with all of your lies,
With the sweetness of meaning, hope and union.
Then lead me to sickness like the other flies,
Through spoilage of your treacherous promises.
And then…spill more poison.
Paint my world in your greens and your reds,
In the pictures of dreams I keep but can’t have,
Trace your bitterness and pride through my head,
Letting the colors bleed together at your manipulation.
And then…draw me smiling.
I open my eyes, and I walk away, Transparent, Spoiled, and Bleeding.
