Budapesti Búcsú 1991
Gábor Demszky, Mayor of Budapest
Gábor Demszky, the Mayor of Budapest, met Zappa in 1991 in LA,
and invited him to Budapest.
...where FZ dusted his guitar and took a leading part in a jam session.
It happened on 6/30/91, a few days after the notorious fucked-up Prague gig
with Prazsky Vyber.
That year, the Budapesti Búcsú, i.e. Budapest Kermis,
during which there are all kinds of musical,
theatrical and other events all through the city,
celebrated the withdrawal of Russian troops from Hungary.
The location was the Tabán, which is a part of Budapest
where the houses were torn down in the early 20th century
and now is a hillside park. There is a stage there
where a lot of free concerts used to take place.
The following musicians, all well known in the jazz world,
joined FZ on the stage where he did it one more time:
Gyula Babos - guitar
János Egri - bass
Béla "Szakcsi" Lakatos - keyboard
Imre Köszegi - drums
