I am serving the US Army and am currently assigned in the Republic of Korea. It is a rumor in the Army that this is the worst place to be stationed. I sometimes wonder, if this is the worst and I am having such a good time here how much fun I would have some where else. My cousin, Jeff Tanguay, was here with me the first 8 months I was here and we had a very good time together. Going to USO sponsored events, trips to Seoul, and just being at home(well the barracks). Just being with family half way around the world is comforting and good for the soul.
While I have been here I have been on Mt. Sorak one of the highest peaks in Korea. I have also been snow skiing three times, to the Seoul Tower to eat and see the city; I have been to Lotte World and Everland which are the two biggest theme parks in Korea. They are not the Busch Gardens of a USA but were still lots of fun.
I took my mid tour leave and took an adventurous Space A flight to Australia. I had one of the best times of my life there. I traveled the whole eastern coast from Townsville to Sydney. That is like going from Pennsylvania to Georgia. I tried everything from SCUBA diving to hiking through the rain forest.
I have had a very memorable tour so far and I do not see it changing until I leave on September 20. I will be going to the state of Colorado to Ft. Carson in Colorado Springs. I will be hunting, fishing, skiing, rapeling, hiking in the outdoors (my home). I am an outdoors person so I think I will get along just fine there.
