If They Only Knew
It was the Christmas of 1957, Gabrielle had gone back to Liverpool for the holiday. Things weren’t really that much different besides the fact that George was now constantly attached to the side of either John or Paul. They day she got home the three of them plus Charlie and Shaz were waiting on her front porch.

"Gabby!" Shaz screeched, she hugged her friend tightly, both laughing and chattering quickly.

Charlie draped his arm over Gabrielle’s shoulders while they walked to the house saying "She’s been driving me crazy, you know. Has no one to talk to but George and I"

Gabrielle laughed "Not much I can do about that" she said shrugging They were standing in front of John, Paul and George now. "Hullo" she laughed, waving.

Yes there was something different about them. They were no longer three single musicians anymore, now they were a whole unit. Well it seemed that way to Gabby by the way they all hardly looked up when she greeted them. Instead they talked quietly, their heads bowed together in a sort of circle and barrier from the rest of the world. It seemed like no on could get into the small circle.

"Hello?" she said again

This time John looked up and grinned "Gabrielle?" he said "I don’t think we know each other ‘cos I was so pissed last time we met"

"Uh huh" she nodded, unsure of what else to say. It wasn’t that she was so much afraid of John, it was more that he had such a presence she wasn’t sure what to do with herself around him.

George stood up and hugged her closely. Her thoughts left John and she laughed, wrapping herself around him tightly. "How was hell?" he asked against her hair

"Er, you know," she shrugged, a hard thing to do when you had someone suctioned to your body "same as usual"

"Hey Gab" he whispered

"Yeah"

"You stole my jacket you bloody cow"

She laughed and pulled away "I did not"

"Oh, yes you did" Gorge crossed his arms and looked defiant "You did, didn’t she Paul"

"What?" Paul looked up from talking to John "What is it?"

A strange look that Gabrielle had ever seen before graced George’s face briefly. He shook it off "Nevermind" he mumbled

Paul nodded and went back to talking to John.

"Uh…" he paused and laughed shaking his head "I forgot what I was going to say"

Gabrielle cocked her head to the side "Are you all right then?"

He nodded "I’m fine"

"Oy, Harri" said John, looking up "You want that yer bird can come with us to Briggie’s for New Year"

"She’s not his bird John" Paul grinned "They’re just mates, they’ve taken baths together"

John raised his eyebrows "Is this true Georgie?"

"Fuck off Paul" sighed Gabrielle

"Aw come on Gabby" Paul hopped up off the porch and put an arm around her waist. "Don’t be angry with me, they’re just mates John" He looked back at Gabrielle "All right?"

"She shrugged out of his arm and nodded "Yeah, all right. Could you do me a favor"

"What?"

"Stop being such a fucking cunt"

John laughed loudly "I like you!" he exclaimed

George and Paul laughed and Gabrielle eventually joined them.
