He married Elizabeth HOUSTON in Carrickfergus, Nth Irl, 9 June 1870. Elizabeth was born in Nth Ireland 22 August 1843. Elizabeth was the daughter of ?? HOUSTON. Elizabeth died 3 August 1933 in Carrickfergus, Nth Irl, at 89 years of age.

He was christened in Carrickfergus, Nth Irl, 12 December 1846.

Charles James JOHNSTONE and Elizabeth HOUSTON had the following children:

120 i. Eleanor Glenfield⁴ JOHNSTONE was born in Carrickfergus, Nth Irl circa 1871. Eleanor died 4 May 1953 in Carrickfergus, Nth Irl, at 81 years of age.

121 ii. Ioanna Isabella (Ino) JOHNSTONE was born in Carrickfergus, Nth Irl circa 1873. Ioanna died 17 or 18 April 1917 at New Bath in Carrickfergus, Nth Irl, at 43 years of age. Her body was interred 19 April 1917 in Carrickfergus, Nth Irl, North Road.

122 iii. Thomas Robert (Tom) JOHNSTONE was born in Carrickfergus, Nth Irl 1875 no. 1 636. Thomas died 15 January 1953 in Carrickfergus, Nth Irl, at 77 years of age.

123 iv. John Houston JOHNSTONE was born in Carrickfergus, Nth Irl circa 1877. John died 16 July 1909 in Carrickfergus, Nth Irl, at 32 years of age.

124 v. Margaret Elizabeth (Meta) JOHNSTONE was born in Carrickfergus, Nth Irl circa 1879. Margaret died 15 August 1963 in Carrickfergus, Nth Irl, at 84 years of age.

125 vi. George Henry (Harry) JOHNSTONE was born in Carrickfergus, Nth Irl circa 1881.

126 vii. Marie Louisa (Polly) JOHNSTONE was born in Carrickfergus, Nth Irl 1883 March Q 1 573. Marie died 27 April 1969 in Carrickfergus, Nth Irl, at 85 years of age.
