Definitions

For the purposes of explanation, here are the definitions for “midwife” and “apprentice.”  Because the students may choose to write their paper on these, only short definitions are provided.

Midwife- usually a female whose job is to aid women during their pregnancies and deliveries.  She is kind of like a nurse.

Apprentice- a person who works, sometimes lives with a professional of a certain job, skill, or trade.  The apprentice learns how to do the job by watching the professional, and by helping him/her accomplish tasks.  The apprentice is often thought to be the replacement of the professional after his/her retirement.
