  Credit for smileys goes to Scott Fahlman who first used
  them back in 1981 in electronic mail and in posts to BBS
  message boards and Internet newsgroups. Scott is now a
  Principle Research Scientist in the School of Computer
  Science at Carnegie Mellon University.
