I got IKE on my birthday - January 6. 1993. He was 12 lb. underweight. He had a staph infection in both eyes and the skin in his face and had uncontrolled diarrhea when he ate - which he didn't want to do.
IKE had been imported as a young pup for a very
wealthy doctor. That doctor later decided he didn't
like him because he was less than perfect. His pigment
wasn't dark enough and one ear was lazy. He kenneled
the dog and the dog didn't come out until the importer
went to check on him, almost 5 months later.
The importer took him back and placed a
more perfect dog with that doctor. I was told
about IKE and went to meet him. I felt if I didn't
take him, he wouldn't stand a chance. His attitude
was even worse than his looks. But, underneath
it all, I saw potential and I saw a dog with an
enormous sense of pride, no matter what people
had done to him.
