Armory
The Romulans have several weapons that they use.  These can be broken down into modern and ancient.   Modern weapons include disrupters and disrupter rifles.  These are used by Government guards, Tal Shiar officers, and Military officers.  Civilians do not usually carry our own weapons, at least not of this nature. Romulans also use several ancient weapons, but these are used in a more artistic way.  On Romulus and Remus, ancient weapons include the Teral'n, a stick-like weapon with razor blades along the top, and the D'Delak, a small bow and arrow-like weapon.  Both of these are usually found at museums and homes of archaeologists.

The current frontline Romulan weapon is the disruptor.  The physics behind the disruptor involves the creation of a particle stream in which the total energy field per particle is so high that it cannot be contained for more than a few milliseconds.  The field rapidly unwinds, and the stability releases the contained energy, disrupting any matter the beam contacts.  The main components include a long term capacitance power cell, forged energy particle generator, triply redundant waveguide and accelerator stage, and beam emitter.

Unlike the Klingon version of the disruptor, the Romulan disruptor has a Heavy Stun setting.  Romulans enjoy interrogating prisoners and so the stun setting is needed to capture them alive.  The stun setting is more harsh than the Federations version as it leaves the victim unconscious  for more than thirty minutes and then leaves them dazed for up to an hour after that.
