"The Ruling Passion" or "mnhei'sahe" is an appreciation of honour, duty, courtesy and strength. Every Romulan must show due respect to another according to his current military rank, social status, reputation, and experience. Denying mnhei'sahe is an insult and requires restoring the honour by duel or killing if the insult is really serious. Mnhei'sahe is one of the oldest customs in the Romulan society. What Romulans respect is honour and power.
