The Silkie is a complicated bird. With silkie feathering, walnut combs, black skin, five-toed feet, crests and turquoise earlobes to worry about when breeding the Silkie to the Standard, it would be nice not to have to worry about color! Great debate rages over some colors. Other colors are shrouded in mystery since very few Silkies actually exist in some colors. Generally, confusion reigns over the issue of "what color is that Silkie?" Some colors are simple like white! The others are not so simple! To the end of eliminating some of the confusion, this page will be devoted to the American Silkie Bantam Club's goal of creating a Silkie color chart for eventual publication. For this, I need your help! Please email me photos of Silkies in the ideal colors of white, black, blue, buff or gold, partridge, grey, splash or any other colors that Silkies come in. I will post these photos on the page and we can decide which Silkie photo we think best represents the standard and nonstandard colors.
