History

According to the website, Basketball Hall of Famers (2000-2001), in 1890, Dr Luther Gulick, head of Physical Education at the school for Christian works, asked Dr James Naismith to create new winter sports for students. On December 21, 1891, Dr James Naismith, a professor of a YMCA gymnasium in Spring field, Massachusetts, created basketball game. At first, a basketball game was played between two the teams of nine players each and had original 13 rules. In the article, James Namismith, Hall of Fame 2002 explains that "basketball became an Olympic sport at the 1936 Games held in Berlin."

How Can You Become Good Basketball Player?

If you want to become a good basketball player, first, you have to be interested in basketball, and you must love to play basketball. These things are very important to become a good basketball player. I think professional basketball players love basketball so they can play basketball very well. Second, when your shoot, you must have good form so your ball is drawn in the basketball hoop. While you shoot the basketball, you have to notice "BEEF". "BEEF" has important meaning for your shoot form. "B" means balance, "E" means eyes, another "E" means elbow, and "F" means follow-through. If you keep "BEEF" you may become a good shooter. Finally you should find a rival or a respected basketball athlete. When you have a rival and a respected basketball athlete, they can help with your enthusiasm for the game.

Point Guard

Point guard can have leadership for the offense and has to make a game. Most of all, this player is usually the shortest on the team. This position excels in doribbling and passing skills on the team.

Shooting Guard

Shooting guard excels in shooting especially with the outside shot. This position can score more points more than any other player. This position is a little taller than the point guard, and the shooting frequency is more than the point guard.

Small Forward

The small forward must have high scoring power and perfect defense. This position flourishes all round because the player need to be close to the goal and outside. The player also needs to have speed.

Power Forward

the power forward uses one's body for rebounding and defense. This position is the most powerful player on the team.

Center

Center is the most important position. The player will be "key player" at defense and offense, because this position demands rebounding and blocking shots on defense and requires scoring from under the goal on offense. [Most of the NBA centers player are 7 feet (213 centimeter)]

Current Outgoing Research

According to a recent survey of 21 people on basketball (Masami, 2002), 50% of people like to play basketball and watch National Basketball Association (NBA) on TV. My point is that 45.45% of people don't like basketball. The results show that half of people are not interested in basketball perhaps because they think basketball is difficult sport.

Conclusion

As you can see from my research paper, basketball is hard to aquire but when you shoot the ball to the hoop and make it first time, you might be absorbed in basketball. Most pepole think that basketball is a sport only reserved for tall people. However, even short people play basketball. The important thing is to love basketball. If you think watching basketball on TV is difficult to understand, you should try to watch street basket. It doesn't have difficult rules so you might understand basketball easily.
