Where We Keep Our Thoughts and Restaurant Recommendations

NOTE (April, 2006) : THIS SITE IS NOT UP TO DATE, however, I am keeping it hanging around because some of it is still useful, and because some people seem to find it amusing. One reason it's not kept up to date is because I have since popped out a kid and am on the cusp of a Master's Degree, which leaves me with neither time nor money for eating out (boo!). There is no more Good Earth in Northridge, but much of the rest still applies. Thanks for dropping by!

The Beauty of The Valley

We now have as many fussy and unfussy restaurants as our Big City compatriots Over The Hill, but we have the magic that is parking. Often this can be accomplished without paying. And you know what that means -- you can order dessert! So because of this sort of curmudgeonly dessert/parking logic, most of our dining selections will be near our home in lovely Van Nuys, CA. We'll throw you a fast one once in a while just to see if you're reading...but it will probably have parking because we haven't saved up enough money to be tossing it wildly out the window.

We will try where we can to tell you where the restaurant is, but if there are 20 locations, you can call the one where we go and ask if there's one near you or where you'll be staying. If you are not from L.A., or not from the Valley, a really great way to find your way BEFORE you make your trip: go to www.yahoo.com and hit the little Maps button and get Point to Point Driving instructions. You can enter the address of your house or your hotel and amazingly, this little thing will give you a map and usually great directions. Print it and take it with you!

We will try to tip you off to reservations if required, and crowd situations (which we HATE). Usually we're so indecisive and well, we like cheap food, so if you're impatient and you like a good deal, you're our kind of eater.

Since creating this site, I (Ilene; nice to meet you) have become a completely ardent and annoying vegetarian (I won't force you to be one, but if prompted, I'll give Gross Food Facts at will...). I have kept some of the old entries because heck, you might still enjoy them! For the newer stuff: I usually do have a good sense of whether or not a meat-eating person could happily attend a completely vegetarian restaurant, and that is included in my reviews. We eat, I write the reviews as a rule (so blame me...)
