Mackinaw River

Represented at
Princeton, October 9 & 10 –
Civilian reenactors and 21st
century observers were in evidence in Princeton
last weekend at a large gathering of Civil War impressionists. In period
dress were Sarah Jane Edwards accompanied by her father Lowell and sisters
Rebekah and Grace. Dorothy Magnuson joined Sarah accompanied by her sister
Laura. Van Furrh manned the U. S. Sanitary
Commission depot while J. D. Scott portrayed a candidate for the Illinois
Statehouse. Mark McBride and John Walther attended as 21st century
observers. It is reported that everyone survived the
sudden skirmish just north of the encampment, although the undertaker was
observed embalming a young soldier who fell in the action and could not be
saved by the gallant Union surgeons.
